Workshop: Valued in Public action learning events
11th February 2008, 9:30am - 4:30pm, London Past event
Are you a public sector employer that wants to employ more people with a learning disability?
Do you have a recruiting manager that wants to employ someone with a learning disability, supported by an HR manager and job broker?
This event provides you with the knowledge and tools to successfully attract, recruit and employ people with a learning disability in your organisation. Many of our public sector members have learnt that with some simple adjustments to the workplace, people with a learning disability can prove to be talented employees that make a real contribution to their organisation. However, people with a learning disability are still the largest group of disabled people who are unemployed. We are running these events with the Care Services Improvement Partnership's initiative, Valuing People Support Team, a government plan to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.
This event will be run using experts in supported employment of people with a learning disability, senior HR practitioners and members of the EFD team.
Why attend?
- Discuss the barriers and challenges, with other employers, faced by organisations when trying to attract, appoint and recruit people with a learning disability
- Learn from an employer who has successfully appointed somebody with a learning disability and individuals who are in employment
- Go back to work with some real proposals for change and devise actions for your HR manager, line manager and job broker.
Who should attend?
This is a public sector only event and in order to attend the event you must bring with you three representatives from your organisation. You must bring:
- a HR manager.
- a recruiting line manager.
- a job broker (we can help supply one if you do not already use one).
