EFD response to trade union attempts to keep disabled people in Remploy factories

Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) is very concerned about the trade unions' recent attempts to keep disabled people in Remploy factories.
EFD wholeheartedly supports Remploy's efforts to modernise and to help disabled people to find work in mainstream employment.
We are actively encouraging our members to support Remploy's recruitment projects local to the 43 factories earmarked for closure.
Remploy has demonstrated that it will give its factory workers the right training, job preparation and support to find employment.
Factory workers can also choose to remain on Remploy terms and conditions, including the final salary pension scheme, working for another local employer for as long as they wish.
We believe that people with disabilities deserve the same opportunity for meaningful employment as non-disabled people and that the modernisation of Remploy reflects the aspirations of disabled people in today's Britain.
