Jonathan Shaw MP, new Minister for Disability welcomed
6th October 2008
Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) today welcomes the appointment of Jonathan Shaw MP as the new Minister for Disability in the Department for Work & Pensions. We greatly appreciate the expertise that Anne McGuire MP brought to the role of Minister for Disabled People, and hope that Jonathan Shaw can continue to work as effectively with employers and disabled people.
EFD's chief executive Susan Scott-Parker said "I'd like to congratulate Jonathan Shaw on his appointment as Minister for Disability. The appointment comes at a crucial time in work on disability and employment, with the welfare reform programme and the Equalities Bill on the agenda.
“EFD enjoyed a good relationship with Anne McGuire and her officials during her time at the Department for Work & Pensions and Office for Disability Issues, and I wish her well in the future.
“We have long believed that welfare reform and equalities legislation need to be credible in the eyes of employers and disabled people for it to be successful. EFD looks forward to working closely with Jonathan and his team in the future."
