Yorkshire Network launched by Disability Minister

Anne McGuire MP, Minister for Disabled People today (Tuesday 29 January) launched Employers' Forum on Disability's (EFD) first ever Yorkshire Network event at Bradford City Football Club.
Bringing together businesses throughout Yorkshire the event, sponsored by Bradford and Bingley, gave participants the opportunity to network, share best practice and have their queries about disability and employment answered in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Speaking at the launch, Anne McGuire said: "Action on a local level is crucial in making positive changes happen, and I am sure that the new Employers' Forum for Disability network will take every opportunity to make a real difference for disabled people across Yorkshire and the Humber.
"EFD will be working with employers to open up the workplace and increase disabled people's chances to move into sustained employment."
Niccola Swan, deputy chief executive of EFD said: "We are proud to be launching our Yorkshire Network, bringing together members throughout Yorkshire and the surrounding regions to share best practice on disability.
"Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of employers committed to meeting the needs of their disabled customers and staff. As a result, there is a strong demand for business events that equip employers with the information, tools and training they need on disability."
Sharon Pegg, diversity manager at Bradford & Bingley, said: "It is our pleasure to hold the first Yorkshire event for Employers' Forum on Disability.
"Bradford & Bingley is committed to disabled issues and we are always looking at new initiatives for our disabled colleagues and customers alike. By working together we can learn a great deal from each other."
