ITV plc
ITV is committed to attracting new and exciting TALENT to join our diverse workforce. We want to live our values of being bold and collaborative in our talent searches, valuing differences in individuals and their contributions, in order to make sure our teams are the first with original ideas that appeal to our viewers.
Therefore we selfishly want the best talent; and to achieve this we have been working hard to provide opportunities and experience for people within ITV; as well as providing support for those who recruit and manage talent within our Company. Here are some examples of what we have achieved that we hope will make us an employer of choice for talent within our industry:ITV are proud to be a member of Employer's Forum on Disability, and in particular the Broadcasting and Creative Industries Disability Network of which Michael Grade, our Executive Chair, is a member of the President's Group which is designed to raise the disability agenda at a senior level across the industry.
We are proud to hold the Two tick disability symbol; demonstrating our commitment to supporting existing employees and potential employees who have a disability.
We think it is important that everyone who works for ITV respects and values each other. It is also important that viewers, audiences and visitors are also treated with the same respect. Training and awareness plays a vital role in our drive to improve accessibility, understanding and customer service. In the last year, 60 members of ITV learnt British Sign Language and a further 500 days of disability awareness was delivered through various methods, from being a part of ITV's leadership programme to specific team briefings. In 2008 we plan to continue the success of our News and Drama disability workshops around on-screen portrayal of disability by running a further 16 workshops across our programme making function.
We like to think of ourselves as being pro-active and run a number of talent schemes. Our Enabling Talent scheme is one of our flagship initiatives, aimed at giving high potential individuals with disabilities the opportunity to gain that all essential paid experience through a supported and structured scheme framework. The scheme is a great example of how we work collaboratively with partners such as ABI Associates, Bluemouse and Posability Recruitment, who can provide expert guidance and advice around disability.
For those who are not successful in securing a place on our Enabling Talent scheme, as well as applying for our other talent schemes there is the opportunity to complete shorter term work experience opportunities.
