Research
There are a number of studies into disability and the media, especially concerning the portrayal of disabled people. The following studies were produced for BCIDN:
- On Screen Representations of Disability by Dr Guy Cumberbatch and Sally Gauntlett, Communications Research Group October 2006
- You Gov Survey Results for BCIDN October 2006 – questions on public attitudes to the portrayal of disabled people on television.
Learning Difficulties Media are a charity that helps people with learning difficulties make better use of the media. Their report, entitled “Broadcasters and learning disabled audiences: beyond the Disability Discrimination Act” is available on the Learning Difficulties Media web site at www.ldmedia.org.uk/reports/broadcasters and dda 9.pdf
