Reasonable adjustments focus
Scottish Network event
When: Friday 1 June 2007, 10am – 4pm
Sponsored by: The Royal Bank of Scotland Group
Scottish Network events provide our members in Scotland the opportunity to share experience and information, to develop local contacts and to receive updates on the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). As with all EFD events, the emphasis will be on practical experience and the implementation of best practice.
Under the DDA, an employer is required to take reasonable steps to ensure that an employee who acquires a disability is able to continue working for them. Working in groups, you will be given the opportunity to work through scenarios to help reinforce your learning and facilitate networking. The event will be chaired by Rick Williams, EFD Associate and Director of Freeney Williams Ltd. and include input from Bela Gor, Head of Information & Policy, EFD.
This event will enable you to
- Understand what is 'reasonable' as an adjustment for an employee.
- Understand your legal obligations as an employer under the DDA.
- Develop a systematic approach to delivering reasonable adjustments.
- Understand how to record and manage sickness absence.
- Learn from the experience of other organisations, share best practice and network with other EFD members.
- Have a better understanding of the support EFD can provide you when managing disability in the workplace.
