This is information about a past event

Public authorities are now in the process of implementing their Disability Equality Schemes to promote disability equality within their organisation. Conducting impact assessments on new and existing policies are an essential part of achieving this.

This event is designed to allow you to reflect on the work you have completed so far on your Disability Equality Scheme. It will explore and address the issues relating to disability equality impact assessments and the importance of involving disabled people in this process. All public authorities must include a statement of their methods for assessing the impact and potential impact of their policies on equality for disabled people.

The event is being run by Rick Williams, Director of Freeney Williams Ltd. Rick ran our series of events on how to prepare Disability Equality Schemes leading up to the 4 December 2006 deadline. He has also been working with public authorities on their Disability Equality Schemes and the Disability Rights Commission, writing some of the guidance on the Duty. Inputs will also be given by William Bee, Former Wales Director of the Disability Rights Commission.
