Employees who care for disabled adults and children
Roundtable special
When: Thursday 28 February 2008, 10am – 1pm
Location: central London
This is information about a past event
An ageing population and ageing workforce means that more employees have to care for disabled relatives.
Carers of disabled children have had the right to request flexible working since 2003 and this was extended to carers of disabled adults in early 2007.
This is a one-off Roundtable special. This informal, interactive consultation will ask the questions you have about the employment of people with caring responsibilities.
You will also share best practice with other delegates and discuss ways to influence the national debate from the point of view of both the employer and the employee.
Our guest speaker will be Steve Broach, campaign manager, Every Disabled Child Matters Campaign. EFD member representatives Philip Conway, IBM and John Cowling, PricewaterhouseCoopers, will present a personal and corporate perspective.
Why attend?
This event will explore:
- The scale of the challenge for employers created by the changing demographics and the fast growing number of employees who care for disabled adults and children
- Innovative ways of optimizing work/life balance and disability confidence
- What EFD does and what government and other stakeholders should do to make it easier for employers to implement best practice.
Who should attend?
Line managers, HR professionals, diversity and disability practitioners.
