This is information about a past event
Disabled people of working age in the UK represent 6.8 million of the total employable population, about 20% of all available talent. With less than half of this total currently in employment, and at least one million actively seeking work, there is clearly a need to be targeting this latent talent market.
The 2007 Employers' Forum on Disability Standard results show that UK employers are struggling to attract and engage people with disabilities. Seventy eight per cent of participants showed they are taking positive action to attract disabled job applicants but only 20% report that this is working effectively.
Through a combination of expert speakers and facilitators, we will be presenting new research from employers and intermediaries to underpin this action-learning event. By exploring the recruitment cycle, as well as relationships with recruitment suppliers, this highly interactive and structured masterclass will give you the inspiration and skills to access talented disabled job seekers.
Why attend?
This event enables you to:
- In groups, work through the recruitment cycle and identify where the barriers are for candidates, look at what you can do differently and provide solutions to both
- Look at creative ways to ensure that job opportunities at your organisation are more attractive to disabled people
- Examine ways that employers have tried to attract from the disabled talent pool and work with third parties and agencies
- Understand how to monitor and review suppliers and services that provide recruitment
- Work more effectively to protect your organisation from commissioning suppliers who are not disability confident and who do not practice barrier free recruitment.
Who should attend?
Recruitment and HR specialists.
