This is information about a past event

In November 2005, the Care Service Improvement Partnership (CSIP) published a guide to public sector recruitment and retention of people with learning disabilities entitled 'Valued in Public' (VIP)

Purpose of VIP events

These events use the Valued in Public guide, as well as other materials developed by Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD), to support employers as they craft better working relationships with those that help them to recruit and employ people with learning disabilities.

How do VIP events work?

These interactive workshops involve at least six public sector employers, each represented by a recruiting line manager and a human resources manager. A job broker or intermediary wishing to support each of them to employ people with learning disabilities must also be present. The day moves systematically through best practice in how to attract, recruit, select, appoint and induct from this willing and able talent pool.

The facilitation team includes people with extensive experience of enabling people with learning disabilities to get in to real jobs; experience in employer engagement and senior level human resources in large organisations. Support will also be available afterwards.

Each VIP participating employer must bring the following people to the table

They will have to attend for a full day and there will be some work before and after the day itself. Please note that this is fundamental to the success for your organisation.

Most importantly, you should have a firm commitment to wanting to employ people with learning disabilities within your organisation, in 'real jobs'.

How much does it cost?

The VIP experience is free to EFD members. However, please note that places are extremely limited and run on a first come first served basis.

For further information and to book a place please contact Zeph King or Emily Halsall in the events department on 020 7403 3020 or by e-mail at events@employers-forum.co.uk.
