Overview
GoodCorporation, established in 2000, is a private company that gives 5% of its profits to good causes. Is it supported by representatives of not-for-profit organisations and trades unions as well as large and small companies.
The GoodCorporation Standard is intended to help organisations to develop manage and monitor their corporate responsibilities. Based on a set of core principles devised by the Institute of Business Ethics, the Standard sets out a framework of policies and good practices against which an organisation can measure how effectively it is meeting its goals
There are five parts of the Standard, at http://www.goodcorporation.com/en/ relating to:
- Employees
- Customers
- Suppliers and subcontractors
- Community and environment
- Shareholders and other suppliers of finance
Guidance on reporting is included in bold type Sections with no specific disability dimension are excluded. There are a number of references within the guidance to accessibility. This may relate to:
- How people approach buildings, get in, more around and leave
- How people obtain goods, services and facilities
- How organisations communicate
Access also relates to, often very simple, adjustments to improve the quality of stakeholder interaction with the organisation. This may be achieved by, for example:
- Asking participants if they need adjustments, e.g. sign language interpreter, in order to participate fully
- Reading important documents out loud or on tape
- Clear signage
- A different choice of print-size and colours for all graphics
