Employers' Forum on Disability response to research on mental health as it affects employers
The Employersí Forum on Disability welcomes the way in which the independent research conducted on behalf of Shaw Trust, Mental Health: the Last Workplace Taboo has given the subject of mental ill-health as it affects employers renewed focus.
For 15 years, the Forum has provided a range of products and services which make it easier for business to employ and retain people with disabilities, including those with mental health problems.
This includes conferences and workshops which promote best practice, the briefing paper, ‘Employment adjustments for people with mental health problems’ and guidance on the retention of people who develop mental health problems during their working lives.
Forum chief executive Susan Scott-Parker:
“We know that many employers are trying hard to get it right on mental health and the Employers' Forum on Disability will continue to provide managers with practical guidance relating to the employment of people with mental health problems.”
Scott-Parker continues:
“It was good to see so many of our members coming together to resource this Shaw Tust research. We are looking forward to continuing consultation and work with our members and the Shaw Trust to share best practice on the employment and retention of people with mental health problems.”
