Call for Entries: Disability Special Award – Great Place to Work Best Workplaces List 2007
The Employers' Forum on Disability is pleased to sponsor the third annual Disability Special Award, part of the Great Place to Work Best Workplaces List 2007.
This is an opportunity for members to receive recognition for the work they have been doing on disability, at the same time as taking part in the Great Place to Work survey and benchmarking process.

Great Place to Work® UK helps organisations to develop high levels of trust in their workplaces through a combination of research, feedback, networking and support. This year, the Institute will survey 1.2 million employees worldwide, and will produce Best Workplaces lists in 29 separate countries.
All participating organisations will benefit from a comprehensive employee survey based on the GPTW Trust Index® with detailed feedback benchmarked against the UK's Best Workplaces. Members will also receive an Advisory Session with a GPTW consultant and access to Best Workplaces member-only reports and networking events. The Institute also provides a wide range of benchmarking opportunities from around the globe, along with expert consultancy services.
Participants report significant benefits including:
- Higher levels of employee engagement: including reduced absenteeism – According to research by the CBI the cost to the UK of absence from work is £13 billion annually. The average number of days absent overall among the 50 Best Workplaces was 4.16, compared to a national average of 8 days.
- Profitability: the publicly quoted “Best Workplaces” significantly outperformed both the FTSE All Share Cumulative and FTSE 100 Cumulative. An investment of £100 in the publicly quoted 2006 “Best Workplaces” in April 2001 would now be worth £165.78. If the same amount had been invested in the FTSE All Share Cumulative or the FTSE 100 Cumulative the result would be £131.71 and £124.52 respectively.
- Recruitment: The typical 50 Best had an average of 4 applications for every 1 employee in 2005
