Employers' Forum on Disability welcomes the Commission for Equality and Human Rights

The Employers' Forum on Disability welcomes the establishment of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) and the appointment of the first nine Commissioners.

In forging a close working relationship, the Employers' Forum on Disability's job is to make it easier for the CEHR to understand how to meet employers' needs and expectations. This will ensure that the CEHR delivers equality for everyone in Britain, including people with disabilities.

Susan Scott Parker, Chief Executive of the Employers' Forum on Disability says:

“The new Commission presents us all with an opportunity revitalise the equality and inclusion agenda.

“We are particularly pleased that Kay Allen, Diversity Manager at BSkyB - one of our Gold Card members - has been appointed as a Commissioner.

“All our members have always been clear that we need a regulatory environment that is credible in the eyes of employers and people with disabilities.

“The Employers' Forum on Disability helps employers to become disability confident - that is to understand the impact of disability on the lives of their employees, customers and stakeholders. One in three people in the UK are disabled or close to someone who is.

“We look forward to a productive working relationship with the CEHR and to a time when equality for everyone is at the top of the national agenda.”

Ends

Before the CEHR is fully operational, the Employers' Forum on Disability will be organising ground breaking Round Table Discussions with equality and human rights campaigners and leaders from the disability movement to build a better understanding of the issues and experiences each have in common.
