London Underground strikes deal with Direct Enquiries

London Underground has announced an accessibility assessment of all 274 tube stations as part of a commitment to disabled customers.

The assessments are part of a programme that will enable London Underground to make sure its customers have the most up-to-date information regarding its stations. The results will appear on the website, www.directenquiries.com, otherwise known as the Nationwide Access Register.

The results will also be made available through Transport for London's 'journey planner' website and leaflets.

Direct Enquiries chief executive, Grant Kennedy, said:

“Communicating accurate information is essential to any service and none more so than public transport.

“We are helping London Underground give their customers greater choice and more travel options.”

Susan Scott-Parker, chief executive of the Employers' Forum on Disability said:

“We are pleased that London Underground will be putting detailed information about their stations on the Direct Enquiries website.

“The Direct Enquiries website receives over one million hits every month and we hope that the deal with London Underground will encourage other service providers to make accessibility a business priority.”
