Tesco demonstrates commitment to disability equality

Tesco, one of the worlds largest retailers, has become the latest organisation to join Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) as a gold member.

The leading supermarket group has been a member of EFD since 1995 and now becomes a key contributor to the world's leading employer-led disability organisation. Tesco has previously sponsored EFD's best-selling publication, 'Welcoming disabled customers' guide.

Juliet Crisp, Diversity Manager for Tesco, said: “We have been working with Employers' Forum on Disability for a while now and are pleased to become gold members.

“Earlier this year we completed their benchmarking survey and are looking forward, with EFD's help, to practically find ways to improve the facilities and environment for our disabled staff and customers.”

Susan Scott-Parker, chief executive of the EFD said: “We are pleased to announce that Tesco have become gold members of EFD.

“The gold group's commitment underpins EFD's work. As core funders their support is fundamental in building our capacity to make it easier to employ disabled people, serve disabled customers and value disabled people as stakeholders.

“We are looking forward to forging a close relationship with Tesco that will help us build our capacity to provide practical advice for EFD's growing membership.”
