Barriers to financial inclusion: understanding the Mental Capacity Act for banks and building societies.

EFD was asked by the British Bankers Association (BBA), its banking and building society members and the Disability Rights Commission to research and report on barriers to financial inclusion for customers with diminished or fluctuating mental capacity.

This is a comprehensive report on understanding the Mental Capacity Act and its interaction with the DDA for banks and building societies. Based on extensive consultation with our members, disabled people and disability organisations the report examines the barriers to financial inclusion and makes wide-ranging recommendations for policy change for both the financial sector and government.

These policies are available as Microsoft Word and PDF documents

EFD welcomes new Work and Pensions Committee report

Delegates were given a preview of Employers' Forum on Disability's 'Recruitment and mental health' report at this year's party conferences.

The events, held jointly with the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health, were an opportunity for members to discuss directly with senior parliamentarians and policy experts the barriers they face on recruitment and mental health.

We have a full article on the conferences.
